YOUR VISIT AT A GLANCE
Paphos combines archaeological sites with a harbour and resort areas along the western coast of Cyprus. Paphos Airport is the natural first option for a local stay. For Coral Bay, Polis or a property further north, plan the transfer to the exact address rather than using a single time for the whole region.
BEYOND THE ARRIVAL
Archaeology beside the sea
Paphos brings ancient sites into a coastal visit rather than separating them into a distant excursion. The harbour area and archaeological park form one part of the experience; the town above the waterfront has a different everyday rhythm. Leave proper time for the remains and mosaics instead of treating them as a quick photo stop.
The wider Paphos region adds villages and the landscapes towards Akamas. These are separate outings, not an extension of a stroll around the harbour. For a short stay, choose between a deeper archaeological visit and a longer drive into the region; both deserve more than the gaps between airport transfers.

Archaeological Park
Mosaics and ancient remains are spread across the archaeological area near the harbour. Allow time for walking outdoors, especially in warm weather.

Tombs of the Kings
The rock-cut tombs lie north of the harbour and form a separate archaeological visit. Uneven ground and exposed areas call for suitable footwear and time.

Paphos International Airport
Paphos Airport serves the western side of Cyprus. It is a natural option to assess for Paphos, Coral Bay and onward travel towards the Akamas area. The airport lies southeast of the city, so the address within the wider resort area matters.
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
Your onward journey
Confirm whether the destination is Kato Paphos, an inland address or a property farther along the coast. For an Akamas outing, agree the actual meeting place and suitable transport separately. A general airport-to-Paphos estimate cannot represent all these journeys.
Plan around your final address
Larnaca may suit an eastern Cyprus itinerary better. Seasonal demand and the proposed aircraft still need to be checked for the requested dates.
Airport details and arrival guidance →TIMING YOUR TRIP
When to travel
Spring and autumn suit archaeological walks. Summer beach visits remain popular, but the hottest part of the day is less comfortable for exposed sites.
Spring & autumn
A useful focus is the outdoor archaeological sites combined with time by the sea. Keep the walking pace appropriate to the group and allow more than a brief stop for the park.
Summer
Exposed archaeological areas call for thoughtful timing. Put the longer outdoor visit in a suitable part of the day and leave the rest for the waterfront or a less demanding programme.
Winter
History and the harbour can still anchor a visit outside beach season. Check individual sites and excursions for the actual dates, and keep outdoor plans flexible.
