YOUR VISIT AT A GLANCE
Manchester combines a major business and university centre with football, music and a lively cultural scene. The city works for a short meeting-led visit, but its industrial heritage and museums also reward a longer stay. Decide early whether you are heading to the centre, Salford Quays or a stadium: those are different ground journeys.
BEYOND THE ARRIVAL
A city shaped by industry, music and football
Manchester rewards a visit beyond the stadium. Its canals, railway buildings and former warehouses tell the story of a city that grew through industry and trade. Castlefield is a good starting point for that history, while the John Rylands Library offers a very different interior: vaulted stonework and reading rooms in the middle of a busy commercial district.
The Northern Quarter brings together independent shops, cafés and a strong music identity. Salford Quays is a separate waterfront area, useful for a cultural afternoon or a media-sector meeting. For a short stay, choose one of these areas alongside the centre. Combining two stadium visits, the museums and the Quays in one afternoon usually means seeing more from the car than on foot.

Science and Industry Museum
Explore the city’s industrial and scientific story through the museum’s historic site and collections. It adds context to Manchester’s warehouses, railways and inventive character.

Manchester Cathedral
The cathedral sits beside the medieval heart of the city. Combine a visit with a walk through the centre rather than treating it as a separate excursion.

Manchester Airport
Manchester is a major airline airport as well as an arrival point for private flights. It works well for the city, football fixtures and business visits across Greater Manchester. Your handling location is separate from the airline check-in process; send the confirmed meeting instructions to your driver.
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
Your onward journey
Give the driver the actual meeting or stadium address. Manchester city centre, Old Trafford and the Etihad Stadium are different destinations, and match-day access can change the final approach. For an onward trip into the Peak District or Cheshire, plan the road journey separately rather than using the city-centre estimate.
Plan around your final address
A busy commercial airport: aircraft parking and the proposed schedule need to be checked for the particular flight. For Cheshire or another destination outside Manchester, compare the complete road journey.

When to travel
Football fixtures, concerts and conferences can create busy arrival periods throughout the year. Plan around the event date rather than treating Manchester as a summer-only destination.
Spring & early summer
Combine the canals and city neighbourhoods with an indoor museum visit. Keep a flexible order for walking and indoor stops, since an outdoor-only programme is vulnerable to changing weather.
Football & concert dates
Choose the event first, then plan the flight around its confirmed start and finish. Allow for crowds leaving the venue and check which stadium or arena appears on the ticket.
Autumn & winter
Libraries, galleries and performances work well for a visit with fewer outdoor hours. An early arrival leaves room for a daytime walk before an evening event.
CONNECT YOUR JOURNEY
Plan the journey in both directions
Indicative jet flight between the reference airports. Transfers are additional; see the route for the airport pair and arrival options.
AIRCRAFT TO CONSIDER
Choose the space you need
Compare passenger seats, luggage and cabin space. The operator confirms the aircraft’s suitability for the airports and the particular flight.
Before your visit
Can I combine a match with a day trip?⌄
Yes, if the flight and ground arrangements fit the confirmed fixture. Share the venue and ticket time before choosing the return departure. The time needed to leave a full stadium is part of the journey.
Which airport should I choose?⌄
Manchester is a major airline airport as well as an arrival point for private flights. It works well for the city, football fixtures and business visits across Greater Manchester. Your handling location is separate from the airline check-in process; send the confirmed meeting instructions to your driver.
How long is the airport transfer?⌄
The indicative road journey from the airport shown on this map to the city centre is 25-45 minutes. The exact terminal, address and traffic affect the journey. Select a point on the map to compare the available local destinations.
What should I send with a charter request?⌄
