YOUR VISIT, AT A GLANCE
London brings together royal landmarks, world-class museums and neighbourhoods with distinct characters. Westminster is the centre of government, the City and Canary Wharf are financial districts, and the West End draws visitors for theatre, galleries and shopping. The Thames connects many of the best-known sights, while the parks offer quieter places between appointments.
St James’s Park · A pause in the cityBEYOND THE BUSINESS DISTRICTS
Make room for the city
London is a collection of neighbourhoods. Westminster gathers major landmarks around Parliament and the royal parks. Across the river, the South Bank links galleries, theatres and riverside walks. Further east, Greenwich offers maritime history and open views away from the West End.
For a short stay, choose one area per half-day. A museum visit in Bloomsbury, lunch in Mayfair and an evening performance are easier to enjoy with realistic transfer time between them.
Places to discover in London

Westminster
Walk from Parliament Square towards St James’s Park. Book ahead if an interior visit is important; access to individual buildings differs.

The British Museum
Choose a collection that interests you rather than trying to see everything. The Great Court provides a memorable starting point.

Maritime Greenwich
Set aside a separate outing for the Old Royal Naval College and Greenwich Park. It pairs naturally with a day in east London.
UNDERSTAND THE CITY
London for business, culture and a longer stay
A visit to London can mean a day of meetings, a theatre weekend or a family trip built around museums and historic places. Each calls for a different itinerary. Decide what brings you to the city, then leave room to explore the neighbourhood around it.
A business trip with time between meetings
The City of London and Canary Wharf are distinct business districts. Westminster serves a different purpose, as the seat of Parliament and government. An itinerary covering more than one of these areas needs time for travel as well as the appointments themselves.
For a short visit, group meetings by area where possible. If the day ends with a dinner or reception, plan the return around that final address. This is especially useful when an early appointment and an evening event take place on opposite sides of London.
Art, performance and collections
London rewards visits built around a particular interest. The British Museum suits an exploration of history and world cultures; South Kensington brings together the Victoria and Albert Museum, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. The West End offers a concentration of theatres, with restaurants and shops around Covent Garden and Soho.
Choose the exhibition or performance first, then build the day around its location. A permanent collection and a temporary exhibition may have different booking arrangements. Check the venue before setting the timetable, especially for a short stay.
Shopping and a family visit
Bond Street and Mayfair are associated with fashion, jewellery and galleries. Knightsbridge is another shopping area to consider, while Covent Garden combines shops with places to eat and nearby theatres. These are separate districts, so trying to fit them all into a single afternoon can leave little time to enjoy them.
For families, a museum visit followed by a park is often a more manageable day than several major attractions. South Kensington and Kensington Gardens form one possible pairing. Share pushchair dimensions and any extra shopping luggage when arranging the aircraft and car.
Choose the neighbourhood around your plans
Mayfair & St James’s
Consider this part of the West End for galleries, appointments, shopping and dining. Mayfair sits between Hyde Park and the shopping streets around Bond Street and Regent Street. Nearby St James’s makes it possible to combine the area with a walk through the royal parks.
Covent Garden & Soho
A useful focus for a visit centred on theatre and an evening out. Plan dinner around the performance time, and allow for the walk between the restaurant, theatre and driver meeting point. A central location does not always mean a car can stop directly outside.
South Bank & the riverside
The South Bank offers a different perspective on central London, with riverside walks and cultural venues. It can fit naturally into a day around Westminster. Keep a longer riverside outing separate from a tightly scheduled afternoon of visits elsewhere.
Greenwich
Greenwich works well as a destination in its own right, with maritime history, the Old Royal Naval College and the park. Give it a dedicated part of the day rather than treating it as a brief stop between West End appointments.
FROM TOUCHDOWN TO YOUR DESTINATION
Arriving in London
Your arrival airport and the onward drive.
Select an airport to see its location.
For a visit centred on Canary Wharf or the City, compare London City Airport: its location is useful for east London, provided the aircraft and crew meet its approval requirements. Biggin Hill is worth considering for south-east London and Kent, with a helicopter connection as another option.
Farnborough can suit west London, Surrey and Hampshire. London Luton offers an alternative to the north, while London Stansted is worth comparing for Essex and north-east London. Choose around your actual address and schedule; the shortest distance on a map does not always mean the quickest transfer.
Shaded area: Greater London. Road shown: Biggin Hill to Trafalgar Square.

| Airport | When to consider it | What to weigh up | Drive to central London |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biggin Hill ↗BQH / EGKB South-east London | Dedicated business aviation; useful for south London and Kent, with an optional helicopter connection. | The drive across London can be slow. Aircraft performance and the permitted flight window need checking. | 55-90 min |
| FarnboroughFAB / EGLF South-west of London | A business aviation airport to compare for west London, Surrey and Hampshire. | A cross-city road journey may outweigh its benefits for an address in east London. | 60-100 min |
| LutonLTN / EGGW North of London | An option for north London and onward journeys towards Hertfordshire and the Midlands. | It is also an airline airport. Confirm private terminal access, parking and the proposed schedule. | 60-100 min |
| StanstedSTN / EGSS North-east of London | Worth assessing for Essex, north-east London and flights needing a larger-airport option. | It is further from the West End. Handling and the road transfer should be planned together. | 65-110 min |
| London CityLCY / EGLC East London | Close to Canary Wharf and the City, when the aircraft and crew are approved for this airport. | Its specialist approach and aircraft approval requirements narrow the available charter options. | 30-60 min |
Indicative road times to the Westminster / West End area, not live traffic predictions. Canary Wharf, the City, an out-of-town office or an event venue may change the preferred airport. This is a shortlist, not every London-area airport.
Give us the address, not just “London”
A meeting in Bromley and an evening in Mayfair involve different arrival plans. Send your first appointment, passenger count and luggage details. The operator confirms the aircraft and airport arrangements; your driver needs the specific private terminal, not the main airline terminal.
Explore Biggin Hill Airport ↗Helicopter or car?
Biggin Hill offers a helicopter connection into London. Compare the complete transfer, including boarding, landing permissions and the final drive. A short helicopter flight is not the same as a short door-to-door journey. Weather and baggage may make a car the simpler option.
PLAN AROUND YOUR DIARY
When to visit London
Spring & summer
Longer days suit riverside walks and the parks. Major sporting and cultural events can make airport arrangements and road transfers busier.
Autumn
A useful season for combining business appointments with galleries and theatre. Plan the return flight around the last commitment, with time for the drive.
Winter
Museums, performances and festive shopping remain strong reasons to visit. Allow flexibility for weather and busy roads; check holiday arrangements for your flight.
A DATE IN THE DIARY
Visiting London for an event
London’s calendar gives many trips a fixed point: a theatre performance, a major exhibition or a sporting event. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, while other events take place across the city. Check the venue as carefully as the event name before planning the journey.
Work backwards from the time you need to be there. Include arrival formalities, the road transfer and time to reach your seat or meeting point. If the finish time is uncertain, discuss the return arrangements before booking the flight. A private charter still needs to fit the airport’s operating window and the crew’s permitted working time.
When a private jet can suit a London trip
A private charter can be useful when several passengers need to travel together, the departure point has limited direct airline connections, or London is one stop in a longer itinerary. It also allows the cabin and baggage capacity to be selected around the group. The practical benefit depends on the complete journey, including time spent travelling to and from the airports.
For a same-day visit, provide the first appointment and the latest likely finish. For a longer stay, include any onward cities and the luggage for the whole trip. Lustrina Jet compares suitable aircraft and key terms from independent operators; the flight contract and payment are directly with the operating carrier.

Questions about flying to London
Which London airport is best for a private jet?⌄
There is no single best airport for every London trip. Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Luton, Stansted and London City serve different locations and aircraft requirements. Start with your final address and schedule, then compare viable options.
Is Biggin Hill in London?⌄
Yes. Biggin Hill Airport is in the London Borough of Bromley, in south-east Greater London. It is outside central London, so a road or helicopter transfer is still needed.
Can any private jet use London City?⌄
No. London City requires approved aircraft and suitable operator and crew approvals. Its location can be useful for the City and Canary Wharf, but it cannot be offered as an interchangeable alternative for every aircraft.
How long should I allow after landing?⌄
Allow time for arrival formalities, baggage and the onward transfer. Road estimates do not include those steps. Your private terminal and exact London address determine the practical plan.
Can I fly into one airport and leave from another?⌄
Yes, when the aircraft and airport arrangements permit it. This can suit a trip that finishes on the opposite side of London, although repositioning may affect the quotation.
Can I request London without choosing an airport?⌄
Yes. Give us London and your final address. We can compare suitable airports before you select a proposal.
How many days should I allow for a first visit to London?⌄
Two or three days can make a useful introduction, with each day focused on a small number of areas. That is a suggested starting point, not enough time to see everything. A longer stay gives more room for collections, performances and places such as Greenwich.
Can I combine a London business trip with sightseeing?⌄
Yes. Choose visits near your meetings and leave a realistic gap between them. A West End performance or one museum collection is often easier to fit into a business trip than a full sightseeing circuit.
Is a helicopter always faster?⌄
No. The flight itself may be short, but boarding, weather, landing arrangements and the final road journey determine the total transfer time. Compare the complete journey.
