YOUR VISIT AT A GLANCE
Marseille combines maritime trade, cultural institutions and access to Provence. The airport lies outside the city, so a meeting in the port, a stay near the Old Port and a journey towards Aix-en-Provence require different transfers. Give the exact destination when planning the flight.
BEYOND THE ARRIVAL
A Mediterranean port with several faces
The Vieux-Port is a useful starting point for Marseille, but it is not the whole city. The quays lead towards the Panier’s narrower streets and the cultural waterfront around the Mucem. Notre-Dame de la Garde adds a higher viewpoint and a sense of how the city spreads between the sea and the hills.
The Calanques belong to a different kind of day. A coastal excursion needs attention to the route, conditions and the group’s ability, rather than being treated as another city-centre stop. For a short business visit, the port and one neighbourhood may be more rewarding than a hurried attempt to combine city heritage with a long outdoor outing.
Notre-Dame de la GardePlaces worth exploring

Old Port
The harbour connects Marseille’s maritime history with everyday city life. Use it as a starting point for the waterfront and the older districts nearby.

MuCEM
The museum’s waterfront setting links modern architecture with Fort Saint-Jean. A visit can combine exhibitions with a walk through the surrounding harbour landscape.

Marseille Provence Airport
Marseille Provence lies northwest of Marseille, near the Étang de Berre. Its location suits Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and wider Provence, but these are different road journeys. Give the actual destination when planning the arrival.
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
Your onward journey
Marseille Provence Airport is outside the city. A meeting by the old port, a destination in Aix-en-Provence and a coastal departure point need different transfers. Confirm the exact address and, for a boat trip, the actual quay before choosing the flight schedule.
Plan around your final address
The airport handles substantial airline traffic as well as private flights. Confirm the handling meeting point rather than using a generic passenger-terminal address.

When to travel
Spring and autumn suit urban walks. In summer, heat and restrictions in natural areas may change excursion plans; check conditions before setting out.
Spring & autumn
These seasons lend themselves to a city-and-coast programme, subject to conditions. Choose an outdoor route appropriate to the group and keep a city alternative if the coastal plan changes.
Summer
Check access to natural areas and boat arrangements for the day itself. Heat and local restrictions can affect an outdoor programme; an airport booking does not confirm the coastal excursion.
Winter
The port, neighbourhoods and museums provide a city-focused visit. Keep sea outings optional, and avoid relying on one weather-sensitive activity as the sole reason for a tightly timed trip.
CONNECT YOUR JOURNEY
Plan the journey in both directions
Indicative jet flight between the reference airports. Transfers are additional; see the route for the airport pair and arrival options.
AIRCRAFT TO CONSIDER
Choose the space you need
Compare passenger seats, luggage and cabin space. The operator confirms the aircraft’s suitability for the airports and the particular flight.
Before your visit
Can I add the Calanques between meetings?⌄
Only if the available time and conditions genuinely fit the excursion. Treat access, travel and the activity itself as a separate programme. For a short gap, the old port and nearby streets are more practical.
Which airport should I choose?⌄
Marseille Provence lies northwest of Marseille, near the Étang de Berre. Its location suits Marseille, Aix-en-Provence and wider Provence, but these are different road journeys. Give the actual destination when planning the arrival.
How long is the airport transfer?⌄
The indicative road journey from the airport shown on this map to the city centre is 30-55 minutes. The exact terminal, address and traffic affect the journey. Select a point on the map to compare the available local destinations.
What should I send with a charter request?⌄
Send your dates, departure point, passenger count and final address. Mention large bags or sports equipment and any fixed appointment. We can then compare the flight and onward journey together.
