YOUR VISIT AT A GLANCE
Zagreb is Croatia’s inland capital, with administrative, business and cultural life distinct from the Adriatic resorts. A short visit can combine meetings with the Upper Town and the parks of the Lower Town. If you are continuing to the coast, compare a separate flight or longer road journey rather than assuming it is nearby.
BEYOND THE ARRIVAL
A walk between Upper and Lower Town
Zagreb is an inland capital with a compact historic introduction. The Upper Town brings older streets and viewpoints, while the Lower Town opens into larger squares, parks and cultural buildings. Moving between the two gives a clearer picture than staying around a single landmark.
The city works well for combining meetings with a cultural afternoon. A museum or a walk around the central streets can fit a shorter stay, while the surrounding region deserves a separate day. Zagreb should not be treated as a coastal resort: an onward journey towards the Adriatic is a substantial addition to the itinerary.

St Mark’s Church
The distinctive roof makes St Mark’s Church a landmark of the Upper Town. Combine the square with the surrounding lanes and viewpoints over central Zagreb.

Museum of Broken Relationships
Personal objects and their stories give this museum an unusual, intimate subject. It fits naturally into an Upper Town walk.

Zagreb Franjo Tuđman Airport
Zagreb’s airport lies southeast of the capital. General aviation has a separate terminal on the western side of the airport, with its own entrance. It suits government, business and city visits as well as onward journeys into inland Croatia.
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
Your onward journey
Use the specific central address or business district for the transfer. If the visit continues beyond Zagreb, decide whether you need a city stop before the longer road journey. The airport-to-centre estimate is not a useful measure for reaching the coast.
Plan around your final address
For an Adriatic coastal stay, Zagreb may add a long road transfer. Compare an airport nearer the final destination before choosing the arrival point.
Airport details and arrival guidance →TIMING YOUR TRIP
When to travel
Spring and autumn are comfortable for walking. December brings seasonal events; business visits take place throughout the year.
Spring & early summer
Allow time to walk between the central squares and parks. Pair the older Upper Town streets with one cultural visit rather than filling the day with distant stops.
Summer
A city break can be combined with the wider region, but give the onward journey its own time. Keep outdoor walking and indoor visits in a comfortable balance.
Autumn & winter
Museums and performances can lead the visit. If travelling for a seasonal event, check its confirmed locations because the useful drop-off point may differ from a normal sightseeing route.
CONNECT YOUR JOURNEY
Plan the journey in both directions
Indicative jet flight between the reference airports. Transfers are additional; see the route for the airport pair and arrival options.
AIRCRAFT TO CONSIDER
Choose the space you need
Compare passenger seats, luggage and cabin space. The operator confirms the aircraft’s suitability for the airports and the particular flight.
Before your visit
Can Zagreb be part of a coastal holiday?⌄
Yes, as a distinct stop. Plan the onward road or flight separately and avoid presenting an airport transfer into Zagreb as a connection to the Adriatic coast.
Which airport should I choose?⌄
Zagreb’s airport lies southeast of the capital. General aviation has a separate terminal on the western side of the airport, with its own entrance. It suits government, business and city visits as well as onward journeys into inland Croatia.
How long is the airport transfer?⌄
The indicative road journey from the airport shown on this map to the city centre is 25-45 minutes. The exact terminal, address and traffic affect the journey. Select a point on the map to compare the available local destinations.
What should I send with a charter request?⌄
Send your dates, departure point, passenger count and final address. Mention large bags or sports equipment and any fixed appointment. We can then compare the flight and onward journey together.
