YOUR VISIT AT A GLANCE
Marbella is a base for the western Costa del Sol, with a walkable old town, beaches, golf and the marina at Puerto Banús. It is reached by air through Málaga rather than a commercial airport in Marbella itself. The right transfer depends on whether you are staying near the old town, the Golden Mile or further west.
BEYOND THE ARRIVAL
Old Andalusia beside the Mediterranean
Marbella has several distinct centres of gravity. The old town is the place for narrow streets, small squares and traces of the historic walls. Around Plaza de los Naranjos, a walk can stay compact and unhurried. The seafront adds a different rhythm, with longer, open walks and the Mediterranean in view.
Puerto Banús and the Golden Mile belong to the same wider coastal itinerary but are not interchangeable with the old town. This matters when arranging a meeting, a marina departure or a family day out. Marbella also works as a base for exploring inland Andalusia, although a village or mountain excursion deserves its own day rather than a spare hour between appointments.
Plaza de los NaranjosPlaces worth exploring

Puerto Banús
Walk around the marina west of Marbella, where yachts, waterfront terraces and shops define a different atmosphere from the old town.

The old town
The lanes around Plaza de los Naranjos offer a quieter introduction to Marbella. Leave time to wander beyond the square and continue towards the seafront.

Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport
Málaga is the main airport to assess for Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Its general aviation facilities serve private flights without using the ordinary airline check-in route. The onward drive follows the coast towards Marbella; Puerto Banús lies farther west.
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
Your onward journey
Málaga is the main gateway used in this guide. Confirm whether the final address is in central Marbella, Puerto Banús or farther west along the coast. The same airport can serve all three, but their transfer times differ. Golf bags and family luggage also need to fit the onward vehicle, not just the aircraft.
Plan around your final address
The airport is not in Marbella. Coastal traffic and your final address make a material difference to the transfer, especially in summer.
Airport details and arrival guidance →TIMING YOUR TRIP
When to travel
Summer is the busiest beach period. Spring and autumn suit walking and golf; coastal traffic can still affect the airport journey on weekends and holidays.
Spring
A useful balance for old-town walks, coastal outings and golf. Build the day around the activities you want rather than assuming that a beach visit must be the centre of every trip.
Summer
Leave the more exposed walks for the cooler part of the day. Popular coastal roads and marina areas can be busy, so keep room between an appointment, a boat departure and your flight.
Autumn & winter
Consider a city-and-countryside visit, with the old town as a reliable starting point. Check the actual operating dates of seasonal beach and boat activities before building a trip around them.
CONNECT YOUR JOURNEY
Plan the journey in both directions

AIRCRAFT TO CONSIDER
Choose the space you need
Compare passenger seats, luggage and cabin space. The operator confirms the aircraft’s suitability for the airports and the particular flight.
Before your visit
Is Puerto Banús in Marbella’s old town?⌄
No. It is a separate marina area farther west. Put the precise marina or street address in the transfer request; “Marbella” alone is not enough to arrange a useful meeting point.
Which airport should I choose?⌄
Málaga is the main airport to assess for Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Its general aviation facilities serve private flights without using the ordinary airline check-in route. The onward drive follows the coast towards Marbella; Puerto Banús lies farther west.
How long is the airport transfer?⌄
The indicative road journey from the airport shown on this map to the city centre is 40-65 minutes. The exact terminal, address and traffic affect the journey. Select a point on the map to compare the available local destinations.
What should I send with a charter request?⌄
Send your dates, departure point, passenger count and final address. Mention large bags or sports equipment and any fixed appointment. We can then compare the flight and onward journey together.
