The DA62 entered service in 2015 as a larger companion to the DA42. Its wider fuselage allowed five- and seven-seat layouts while retaining diesel engines that use jet fuel.

The DA42 had established Diamond’s modern diesel twin. The DA62 expanded that idea into a wider fuselage with more seating possibilities. This was a move towards family and business transport in a larger cabin, while preserving the engine-management approach and composite construction associated with Diamond’s smaller models.
The DA62 entered service in 2015 as a larger companion to the DA42. Its wider fuselage allowed five- and seven-seat layouts while retaining diesel engines that use jet fuel.
A seven-seat layout includes the pilot and leaves less room for baggage behind the last row. Business interiors can replace the middle bench with two individual seats.
