Faro is the principal air gateway to the Algarve. It suits Faro itself and resorts across the region, with the final road distance depending on whether you continue east or west. The airport is close to the city and the Ria Formosa lagoon.
Is this the right airport for your trip?
A short drive to Faro should not be mistaken for the transfer time to the whole Algarve. Golf equipment and family luggage should be included when choosing the aircraft and car.

Where this airport works well
Faro Airport gives access to the Algarve, but the region extends far beyond Faro itself. The city and Ria Formosa are nearby; resorts around Vilamoura, Albufeira and Lagos lie in different parts of the coast. Choosing an arrival airport is therefore only the first part of planning. The destination address determines how much of the day will still be spent on the road after landing.
