Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport

AIRPORT OVERVIEW
Málaga is the main airport to assess for Marbella and the Costa del Sol. Its general aviation facilities serve private flights without using the ordinary airline check-in route. The onward drive follows the coast towards Marbella; Puerto Banús lies farther west.
Is this the right airport for your trip?
The airport is not in Marbella. Coastal traffic and your final address make a material difference to the transfer, especially in summer.
Runway length is a useful reference, not a guarantee that every aircraft can operate here. The operator checks performance, load and the conditions for the actual flight.
LOCATION & PURPOSE
Where this airport works well
Málaga-Costa del Sol is the airport to consider for a broad choice of aircraft when visiting Marbella. It serves the coast as a whole, rather than one resort. Marbella's old town, the Golden Mile and Puerto Banús are separate destinations west of the airport. A transfer quoted simply to Marbella may therefore describe a different journey from the one you actually need.
PRIVATE FLIGHT ARRIVAL
Terminal and meeting point
The airport has general aviation facilities, with access arrangements for private passengers distinct from ordinary airline check-in. Its history stretches back to 1919, while the older passenger building was subsequently adapted for general aviation. For a present-day journey, the important detail is the handling entrance specified for your aircraft. The driver should use that address, not assume that the main passenger-terminal forecourt is the collection point.

AIRPORT & ONWARD TRAVEL
Marbella
Indicative road journeys. The terminal, final address and traffic affect the time. Dotted ends link the road to the marked place; this overview is not a navigation map.
AFTER LANDING
Plan the rest of your journey
The road journey continues along the Costa del Sol. Coastal traffic matters particularly when a flight is timed around a meeting, a marina departure or an evening event. For a trip including both Málaga and Marbella, agree the sequence of visits before fixing the return flight. Large groups and family luggage may need a larger vehicle even when the aircraft has enough seats. The airport page and city guide can be used together to compare the flight with the onward journey.
Before you arrive
Where should my driver meet me?⌄
Use the handling address and meeting instructions in your flight confirmation. A private flight may be served away from the main airline terminal.
What about passport and customs formalities?⌄
The arrangements depend on the flight’s origin, destination and passenger documents. Confirm these with the operating carrier before departure.
Can I return through a different airport?⌄
Yes, subject to the itinerary and operating arrangements. Share both addresses and dates so the complete trip can be compared.
